Designer Stella McCartney has announced plans for a new line of clothes to debut later this year at GapKids and babyGap. “For years now I’ve wanted to create a collection for kids, it’s something I’ve often been asked about,” McCartney revealed to Vogue magazine. “I believe that this one off collaboration will be a great way for customers to be able to participate in the Stella McCartney brand.”
No news out yet on whether the new line will be as animal-friendly as McCartney’s past creations. The vegetarian designer supports PETA and does not use fur or leather in her designs, although she does design with wool, silk and other non-lethally derived animal fabrics. The forecast is favorable for affordability: “I believe that kids clothing should be more accessibly priced, which is particularly important at the moment given the current climate,” she said.
