Also, there will be raffle tickets for sell at both meetings to raise funds for our table a the upcoming DFW Family Expo.

Dallas/Fort Worth DiaperFreeBaby will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. at the indoor play area of Irving Bible Church in Irving.  DiaperFreeBaby is a network of free support groups promoting a natural approach to responding to babies’ elimination needs. This practice is followed worldwide and is known as elimination communication, natural infant hygiene and infant potty training. The process involves observing one’s baby’s signs and signals, providing cue sounds and elimination-place associations, and can be done with or without any diaper use.

The Homebirth Association of North Dallas (HAND) will be holding their Dallas area monthly meeting on Tuesday November 17th. Certified Professional Midwife, Molly Germash, of Hearts Desire Midwifery, will be leading the meeting on the following topics:

What does an ideal birth team look like and how can we arrange it – for a hospital birth, a birth center birth, or a home birth. If a midwife is involved, who assists her, how, and why? What components of birth produce deep joy and satisfaction when it is all over?

This is a great topic for any birthing woman or couple so please feel free to invite hospital birthing friends or even friends that are still just thinking about having babies.

They’re eco-friendly, they’re cute, they’re cost-effective, they’re natural … And now, cloth diapers are local, as the Real Diaper Association forms a local chapter here in the Plano area.  The RDA’s bottom line: supporting and teaching parents about diapering choices on a personal level.

If you’re a fan of the fluff, now’s the time to get involved.  The fledgling group is seeking experienced cloth diapering parents to mentor new diaperers,  as well as leaders or members of parenting or new-parent groups (moms’ groups, childbirth educators, etc.) interested in having the RDA visit their group with a show-and-tell on cloth diapers. 

Oh, and if you’re new to cloth diapering — no worries, the RDA is looking for members like you, too! The RDA is a great way to learn more about diapering options without being restricted to information about a particular product line and without any pressure to buy.

Interested? Local chapter organizer Angela Imes has launched a Google Group for Plano Cloth, with plans to hold a meeting at a public library in Plano to gather feedback on the best times and locations for future kid-friendly meetings. Contact her via e-mail or by phone at 972.310.7695.

Looking for some cool summer fun? Check into bowling — Kids Bowl Free (two free games a day) all summer long! All you pay is shoe rental, which usually runs about $3.75. The program is now active at participating centers in Plano and Waxahachie.

Bowling centers from around the country are giving away two free games of bowling each day as an opportunity for kids and families to enjoy bowling during the summer months. Kids Bowl Free is only available at participating center; individual age restrictions may vary by center.

Kids Bowl Free runs from May 1 through October 31. Family discounts are also available, offering two free games per day for up to four related adults for $23.95.

The Mid-Cities chapter of the Holistic Moms Network welcomes new families who are curious (or already sold on) holistic family living at an open house Saturday morning, Sept. 20 in North Richland Hills.

“We invite you to come out and meet our members and find out what we’re all about!” urges local leader Jennifer Bolan. The open house will present local holistic practitioners and business owners sharing information on their specialties — from local chiropractors to local grass-fed beef ranchers to a mom-owned baby sling business.  Win door prizes from holistic businesses including Aubrey Organics, Rockin’ Baby Slings, Luna Pads and Mothering magazine.
